Bacterial Meningitis in a Nigerian Child: A Case Report

Abstract
Bacterial meningitis remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in children worldwide, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. This case report describes a 6-year-old male from Kano, Nigeria, who presented with high fever, neck stiffness, and altered consciousness. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis confirmed Neisseria meningitidis infection. The patient was treated with intravenous antibiotics and supportive care, leading to full neurological recovery. This case highlights the importance of early recognition and timely management of bacterial meningitis.
