Possibilities of Intervention in the SARS-Cov-2 Metabolism.
Main Article Content
Abstract
.The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused a global pandemic, leading to high morbidity and mortality. Understanding the virus’s metabolic processes is crucial for identifying therapeutic targets. This review explores the metabolic pathways that SARS-CoV-2 exploits within host cells, including the reprogramming of host cell metabolism, viral protein synthesis, and energy production. The paper further delves into therapeutic interventions targeting viral enzymes, host metabolic pathways, and immune modulation. These interventions may offer alternative or adjunctive strategies to complement vaccination efforts. Finally, we address the challenges of targeting viral metabolism, including drug resistance, host toxicity, and host-virus interactions. This review provides insights into the potential for metabolic intervention to mitigate COVID-19 severity and improve patient outcomes.
